no offense but arma 2 eww.
make a new thread if ur gonna batte eachother on what new hardware is gonna do and such
I have so much to learn i've just read through this whole thread twice i'm still none the wiser, i was hoping on improving my pc in time but have no idea what i'm doing or where to start,,,,,,, why does it all have to be so complicated.
I'm now to ashamed to even tell you what i have in the box under my desk, thought it was good at the time all i know is Crysis sures looks pretty when i play it.
It just seems to me no matter what you spend it'll all go out of date eventually all i know is what i have suits my means well.
Lol, maybe talking to DMC on TeamSpeak for a bit could help ya.

You're right, no economist would ever suggest spending anything on computer components, as they must be the absolute worst investment ever. However, if you feel that you can get your enjoyment out your new $500 video card, then go for it, even if the angel on your shoulder tells you to buy something tangible...anything...like a sweater.

Absobloodylutly.
Unfortunatly the tax man has just bent me over and screwed me royal sodding hmrc bastards.
Still i'm thinking from reading this thread i may need a better power supply and this shouldn't be to expensive?
This is what i have:-
A NXT Hush midi atx case.
Asus M4A79T Deluxe board
AMD 955BE processor
ATI4890 - stock card i guess?
8gb ddr3 ram - nothing fancy
1tb Samsung hd
Sound card? stock??
Standard cooling
Vista ultimate 64 soon to be 7
550w power supply I wanted 750w unfortunatly the deal on the build gave me no option to upgrade this.
Any suggestions?
The 4890 should be ok with 500w
Also, I think you'll like Windows 7. It's an excellent upgrade, especially for such a low price.
Holy, don't pay $1500 for a PC with a LGA 775 mobo. You can get tons of extra performance for a much lower price if you're willing to plug in the processor yourself. Take this as an example setup:
ASUS P7P55D PRO LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

If you were willing to do a few minutes of research, you could save even more. However, I know you are vehemently opposed to saving money for some reason.
The hardware above is certainly more powerful and upgradable than the setup you customized. And you can buy a better video card or a SSD with the money you can save by not paying a company to put it together for you.

Or a case thats not a piece of shit. The HAF is the most over advertised POS, its the new Antec 900. Eeeeeveryone has one.
The money you could be saving with Steveco.
Holy insisted on that case. Everything he insisted on for no legitimate reason has been included on that list, even if cheaper, equally-as-good alternatives were available (like the Lian-Li case).
Oh and one more thing: the normal 260 was sold out on newegg, so please note that my list includes the superclocked 260.
Lian li is the best case maker around. EVERYTHING is quality and extremely well built. plus it has retard tools for people like holy, like a belt to mount ur psu instead of screws
I can understand Holy's need to have someone do all the work for ya... .....Also the HAF case can move alot of air...ie good for OC the CPU. plus if holy did fuck up the PC then back to the shop it goes...none of his problem or headache....Its the lazy man's answer to having a bespoke gaming rig.

random rant: why the good cases have to be the ones filled with leds and transparencies, I don't get it. For example I have a Coolmaster Elite case, which is just plain black and decent for heat dissipation and pretty cozy inside. I don't see why I should spend two times that price for a case doing the same thing but looking more teenage glamorous from outside.
I agree with Evil about buying a mobo with the LGA1156 socket. Desktop PCs are all about future expandability and buying a LGA775 based pc is like buying a SEAT Marbella and putting a ferrari enzo engine in its trunk. yes you can still run, but you are always afraid that a screw could loose.
Newest LGA1156 mobos are made for running with recent videocards, which are like nuclear plants if compared to series 8 and 9 cards.
Yes and don't forget how inexpensive even the best 1156 mobos are. Sure, you might not be able to plug in the corei9 when it comes out, but hexacore processors won't be needed to play games for some time yet.
yes they barely learnt how to use 4 threads in games. hexacores mmmm, sure nothing will melt in there ? they thought they could go beyond 3 GHz single cores too but intel had to say bye bye to Moore law because they had to cool down the equivalent of a mini nuclear plant on silicon die.
So much for all the effort I put into my list of hardware for Holy.
Verrater, did you tell him that LGA775 is better than 1156?
VERRATER!!! GRRRRRRRRRDFASIDJFAKWESFH:ADS
Holy that was a stupid decision and i will smack you for it
Yes, icomrade has also asked that i slap Holy for him
the i5-750 is here along with a Foxconn P55 1156 socket and 2 gigs of corsair ddr3 and a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. only reason its not all assembled is that id rather play with my new girlfriend which i also got on christmas than the computer... ill keep in touch
you got a new girlfriend for Christmas ??? like you found her under the Christmas tree hugging your P55 motherboard ?
