I bought a new Internal 3.5' SATA Drive today. I already had one internal drive in my computer (a 300gb velacirapter). I allready added an external 1 tb hard drive for space but want more. So the order of things is my os velcirapter (C drive), my blu-ray disk drive (D drive), and the external 1 tb drive (E drive). How do I get my new drive to work also? My computer's bios recognized it after a second restart that installed an update for it, but no drive letter. Example (F). Any ideas? I have Intel DX58SO motherboard and all drivers up to date also windows 7 64-bit ultimate os.

That differs if he uses small or large icons instead of groups to sort the control panel.
just hit start then trype this into the search bar
%windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc
Click disk management > right click on the drive > format. Encase you didn't know do not defrag an ssd.
If the drive does not ID in windows:
1. check device manager for it.
If it's not there:
1. try another sata port (do not swap your boot drives port).
2. look at the boot order (do not place your boot drive after it).
3. if all else fails RMA it.P.S. you can format it by double clicking it in the computer window (Start > My Computer), a pop-up will prompt you to format.
P.P.S. if the device is already in NTFS format just assign it a driver letter in the computer management window.

Did you format the drive yet?
1) Find the drive in "Manage Disks" or "Volume Manager" or whatever.
2) Look at all disks there and find the one without a partition on it.
3) Make sure you know before you format.
4) Create a NTFS partition and format as NTFS. This also assigns a drive letter.
5) Reboot computer and it will be there.
