I don't like the times, I think a restart before the server fills (so it remains populated) is the best set up. Currently the server restarts when it's 50/50 and hardly half of those players return.

The server was originally only sending warning restart messages to one player because of a syntax error in scheduler.xml, but all players should be seeing the messages as of 10:00 server time 8/23/2012. This could be why a lot of players didn't come back after the restart. If not, it's better to not have 50 players anyways because desync is awful when the server is full even after a fresh restart.

What? It worked today, I saw the messages, including one for 3 hours. De-sync is awful no matter what, having a half full server as apposed to a full one will still have desync, plus it's an inconvenience to players. -

Don't forget the presence of hackers as well (I know that the anticheat is going beast mode atm, but it's only a matter of time until more bypasses are found, and we've already been screwed). Anyhow, I don't think that ever happened cause I've seen pretty much all the messages so far, unless I'm the chosen one...

Only one player would see the restart messages before because there is supposed to be a hyphen before each 1 in the line <cmd>say -1 message</cmd>
And de-sync doesn't seem to be as big of a problem when the server has 25 as opposed to 50 players.

Well, as long as it's fixed now, it doesn't really matter. Good to know it got fixed, but I personally never noticed that happen. Either way, desync is definitely a large problem. Scanner almost got killed because of it. There are hundreds of other DayZ servers, if they can't stand 4 restarts a day to ensure server performance, then that's not our problem.

you cannot bypass server-side script detection, you can only trick it by executing scripts using scripts that do not log. Also, forgetting the - before 1 is not a syntax error, it's just a human error. -
there is still one or more hacker on our server. First a guy called "Dirk" spawned flying boats (I banned him). Then an invisible guy killed almost all of us by the tents he was using all kind of weapons. It is almost like he is after OSF b/c I switched to a different server, moved 2km away, came back in OSF server and he was shooting me again...

At first I thought he was legit because he seemed to be shooting in a good ambush position, and may have been lucky or calculated that we go to that spot most of the time when we get the heli. I unfortunately had to leave soon thereafter, leaving Yoda to you guys to fix up (hope he's OK now). Anyhow, I'm not 100% sure that Dirk himself was the hacker, and it could be possible he was the same hacker as before (spawning boats),but we still need to be careful. If Dirk was, in fact, legit, he can always contest the ban. Anyhow, I think the more the logging, the better. This is beyond the point of ridiculousness.

What do you guys think about reducing server restart to about 2 or 3 times a day?
We don´t have lag issues anymore now but it´s like ok we got the heli but it will be gone in 5 hours. -

I agree with rip. Four restarts per day was fine until the heli began respawning on the island everytime. It would be simplest to go to 2 restarts per day because it would only mean deleting some schedule lines, but if every 12 hours isn't enough we can try 8 hour restarts after that.
