Our server hosting our teamspeak and website died last sunday . Sort of.. It decided to switch itself on and off and run for a few minutes in a row. We moved all the Virtual Machines to other HW which we had to configure first. Now Dell can take a look at it.
Our new OSF game server will be running on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 2 dualcore 3.16Gz XEONs
Server died in AMS

Thanks TankTop, for sorting everything out for us and working diligently.
I'll make a donation (albeit, small) very soon.
And I'll even give away my reputation point

We have a Dell poweredge at our house, though it is not in use right now. Is it possible to remove some parts to use in normal client computers? Like the processor? And is there a label on the machine that says the hardware? like how fast the processor is?
Thanks

Not sure if the server's processor would fit on a non-server mobo.

Quite frankly, I haven't seen a server processor, or anything inside a server. Only the software and OS. I do know how big a processor in a desktop computer is, though. Could you show us a picture, TankTop?

Well, when you go on newegg and search for processors and mobos and whatnot, there is an option to filter out desktop or server components. Newegg has nice pictures and normally good info.

Damn! thanks TankTop. Once I hit the two month anniversary of my job, I too shall donate!
