Combine Battlfield 2, Crysis, UT3 Engine, and something completely original, you get Homefront.

Something about this game is so very different from other games I've played. The multiplayer is familiar in usability, yet completely original. It has it's own gameplay style.

I think what makes it so amazing in gameplay is the maps. They are wide open like Crysis. Also, there are planes and aerial vehicles like Battlefield 2. But it is built with map content that far exceeds Crysis or Battlefeld Company 2 maps. After playing this game just a little bit, I have come to realize the fricken maps in Homefront make other games look generic. Homefront maps are genuine, original, detailed, creative, elaborate, and simulate the "home front".

And yea, there is something disturbing about the Single Player, but that exact disturbing characteristic is also very stimulating. It puts you in the game. The storyline is emotional and awakening.

  • how are the grafiks?

You are becoming obessed with the quest for ultimate grafik performance, at the end of the day grafiks are not to important, content and gameplay are king, i have enjoyed playing Crysis Wars at the lowest possible graphic settings even though i can still get playable fps at medium to high settings yet i would rather play on lowest for best possible performance.
We know players who have amazing graphic cards and good pc's that still play on lowest for ultimate fps performance. :)

I got your system with teamviewer upto 250fps in Crysis Wars I can only dream of getting this kind of performance.......... For the moment

  • its not 250 fps anymore i sold the second card and now i have something about 100-130 fps
yeah i know but i dont like to play games with horrible grafiks like Counter strike 1.6
my eyes hurt after this game

  • Texture quality and detail level are top notch, upper end. The only complaint I have is the explosions are short bursts. But the lighting effects are more realistic and accurate. Also, no cheap dust or smoke effects.

  • I'm addicted. Homefront took a few multiplayer sessions to get used to, but now I'm hooked on it.

They programmed in the perfect anti-camper feature in Homefront. If a player is camping and receives unusual amounts of kill streaks, that players general location is monitored and updated on the screen, so his enemies know his/her position. It's easy to wipe out snipe-tards. If you ever want a game that is anti-sniper anti-camper, it is Homefront. Fricken rules at this.

At first, it seems a little confusing to understand the GUI and "Armory" function, but once you learn it, it is the answer to all our complaints. Earn 'prestige' according to the game session, but you also earn a rank that is permanent.

    It's like Battlefield + Crysis 1 + UT3 = Homefront. I swears it.

You don't spawn with the rocket launcher, you buy it in-game when you need it. But you must earn the BP (prestige) for it. Same goes for vehicles. You must earn them. A lot of weapons and vehicles are locked until you reach a certain level or rank, then they are unlocked for all games, but they still cost BP that you earn per individual game. It's the best system I know of.

  • When Crysis 1 was released, it was severely underrated. It's sales figures were only at less than 50% of the predicted sales figures and analyst's did not understand why. Then, on Q3 (Quarter3 of the release year) the game suddenly skyrocketed in sales. It reached several times it's projected sales predictions. Crysis 1 was underrated upon release. I'm going to say it now, Homefront is looking very underrated.

  • All I'm saying is that if there wasn't an ad for tigerdirect.com, there would be an ad for liondirect.com or something like that. You don't have to buy stuff from tigerdirect.com if you don't want to. It should make no difference to anyone what brand is on the billboard. irl, there are billboards with real ads on them, so it would make the game less realistic to have billboards with fake ones.

  • If you play the single player and understand the story behind this game, you would appreciate the necessity for real places in the game. You have no idea how far this game goes under your skin, and I think the real billboards add to the realism. I'm not trying to sell something here, I'm putting it out here for an honest and 100% review.

This game is so immersive it causes PTSD. I'll be out in public somewhere and here something like "KPA" or "North Korea" and images of this game come to mind in a very deep manor. No game has ever been as immersive as Homefront is. I am almost ashamed to admit it.

In this game, one of the cinematic's mentions "irradiation" of the Mississippi river. That is genius to think of. Disturbing and scary, but it will provide an experience you cannot get from any other game.

i think your'e exaggerating a bit, in crysis 2 there aren't real ads in time square and that doesn't make it any less realistic.

  • not necessarily less realistic, a fake ad on a billboard still emulates a real ad, it's just that i don't like the idea of wanting white castle while playing a video game because of in game advertising. i think i can leave it up to my appetite to tell me weather i want square hamburgers with holes in them.

If advertisers can take control of your appetite to the point where you unwillingly leave the house and buy their product, then you've got real problems.

    Quote from "icomrade";p="9910"

I don't pay people to advertise to me. In other words i'm not paying for a game with features of a free one.

    Looks like you just did.

  • this is a dumb discussion, i stand by my beliefs, and don't tell me i have problems because i made a point. usually you don't attack someone at a personal level in a debate/discussion but w/e. so does anyone else have anything to say about Homefront being worth it or not?

also i had no idea such a website existed, and i have no problem with ads for the redcross or other non profit organizations.

  • Yea, but when you see something in the game that is link to the real world, it is 100x's better than a generic "place". Right, New York, but not everyone has stood in the middle of times square several times in their life. I've gone to Hooters more times than I remember.

When you see something so familiar and localized to the American way of life, then you see it crushed under warfare, you can develop a connection with it.
