buy a high end last generation card, if you're on a budget that is.

Personally, I would do my own research, while recommendations are great, it's ultimately your choice and your money. look at reviews at places like tomshardware, as a rule of thumb don't go off reviews at places like newegg.com, most of them say "this is much faster than my old card," no duh. For now, I wouldn't worry about Nvida vs. ATI/AMD, both are pretty even with drivers at this point, hardware is about even also, ATI has the lead for now but only because they are a generation ahead of Nvidia.

    February GPU hierarchy chart: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming…iew,3107-7.html

If you have a 5770, you wouldn't want anything less than a GeForce GTX 560 Ti or a Radeon 6950 otherwise the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in performance according to Tom's hardware

If you want ati buy a 6950 and do a firmware edit to make it a 6970 and save 100 USD, it's as simple as clicking a button. It doesn't work on every card, only reference ones.

If you currently have a 5770 and your budget doesn't allow you to get a card that is more than one step up from that, my advice would be to wait until you have a little bit more to spend, otherwise you might be disappointed that the upgrade is not noticeable enough to be worth what you spent.

i knew i made a good choice when i bought my 5870, it can still keep up with cards a gen older and twice the price :) Seriously though, your budget isn't that great, going with Evil you should save up, a 5870 isn't worth the upgrade (neither is a 570).

While you're saving up, you can feel even more insulted by hitting the Recommended button :? http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/download.aspx?name=Battlefield-3&id=11211

yes, do not do it. you cant try this, http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1962…itor_v1.28.html

there's a setting for bios unlock in the fan menu i think. if it goes wrong follow the steps in the first link to recover, and make sure you have the bios slider on the card.
